In a world of video games, there are many different types. There are shooting games, building games, simulations, and more. But there is one video game out there, which is pretty much unique. It is Stardew Valley.
Unlike most games, Stardew Valley is a relaxing and light game to play. It serves as a "break" from other, intense, action-full games. It's also one of those few games that can just make you smile. But, the most unique feature of it, is that it has life lessons in it.
What they are, you will have to find out yourself by playing the game, but I will save you some suspense and tell you one of them. This one is shown throughout the game. It is that spending time outside, making connections with real people, and just living the "real" life, a thing which is being done less and less these days, is important.
Overview
Stardew Valley was developed by Eric Barone (ConcernedApe), and is published by Chucklefish. The story of the game starts with the player's character living in a city. But then they start to feel the confines of city life, so they go and take over their deceased grandfather's farm plot in Stardew Valley, where they feel that they can have a better life.
Stardew Valley is an open-world game. At the farm, players can grow crops, raise animals, fish, explore Pelican Town (where the farm is), mine for ores, fight monsters, and more. But at the same time, they have to manage the amount of energy that they have each day, as well as the amount of money that they have.
The player can also interact with the NPCs (non player characters) that live in the town, by giving them presents on their birthday, and by doing their quests. You can also complete bundles at the town's rundown and abandoned Community Center, in order to get it back up and running.
At the beginning of player's third year (in game time), the spirit of their grandfather comes and evaluates the player's progress (but this doesn't mark the end of the game).
Additionally, Stardew Valley has pixilated graphics. While some people think it takes away from the game, I feel that its adds to the feel of the game. Another feature that also does this, is the one hour plus of original music in the game.

My Review
If I could rate Stardew Valley, I would definitely give it at least 96/100. It is one of my favorite video games.
The lightness of the game makes it very enjoyable to play. In addition, as previously mentioned, the game makes me smile, which more games should really do.
Furthermore, similar to the video game Minecraft, there is no fixed path on what you have to do. There is a light storyline in the game, but you can still choose how you want to play Stardew Valley.
There is also lots to do in the game, so it doesn't get boring. The game gets updated often, and the newest update added Multiplayer! However, this update is only available on the PC version (at the time of this post).
One con of the game is that it may get a little boring at times, as there isn't much action. But, on the other hand, if you keep playing, eventually something exciting will happen.
The game is also quite popular. It is one of the best selling games on Steam, with over 400,000 copies sold in its first two weeks. Additionally, in 2017, it was the best selling game on the Nintendo Switch, even though it was only released in October. In 2016, it was nominated for 11 awards, and won two.
Final Thoughts
Overall, Stardew Valley is an excellent game, and has everything that I would want in a game. It's available on Steam, Xbox 1, PS4, PS Vita, and the Nintendo Switch.
ConcernedApe is the sole developer of Stardew Valley, and he made it because he thought that it would be a game that he would like to play. This could be an important life lesson for all of us.
